Fool's
Puzzle Tour
Josiah Sinclair Folk Art Museum (building)- Rios-Caledonia Adobe, San Miguel,
California (northern San Luis Obispo County)
Josiah Sinclair Folk Art Museum - (location) - on vacant land on Tank Farm Road between Higuera and Broad Streets (Hwy 227)
Farm Supply Co (where Benni buys a lot of her clothes and Dove buys her chicken feed--I shop here a lot too)--on Tank Farm Road between Higuera and
Broad Streets
Blind Harry's Bookstore (building) - Elliott Bay Bookstore in Seattle, Washington (I saw this store long before the big chains started
bookstores
with coffee houses. It is a beloved institution in Seattle).
Blind Harry's Bookstore (location) - On Higuera Street right downtown about where The Novel Experience bookstore is now.
Lopez Street - Higuera Street
Eola Beach - Avila Beach (which looks much different now that it has been renovated in the last few years--it used to be an old, funky beach town)
Port San Patricio - Port San Luis, Avila Beach (at the end of Avila Beach Drive)
Blue Seal Inn - Olde Port Inn at the end of Port San Luis pier in Avila Beach (also at the end of Avila Beach Drive)
Liddie's Cafe - based on old Farm Boy restaurant which, unfortunately, closed
a few years back. Allen and I used to eat there a lot when I was doing early research for my books.
The location is the corner of Santa Rosa and Marsh streets. It is now lawyer's offices.
Santa Celine Mission - Mission San Luis Obispo (you can't miss it downtown)
Mission Plaza with Bear and Chumash girl statues - right next to the mission (Monterey and Chorro streets)
Farmer's Market - downtown San Luis Obispo on Higuera street--every Thursday night
William's Bros. Market - local chain that has since closed when it was bought
out by Vons--locals remember shopping there and buying tri-tip steak and pinquinto beans for their Santa Maria
barbecues
Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo - entrance is on Santa Rosa street on the way to Morro Bay
San Celina government offices including courthouse - Monterey street (runs parallel to Higurera Street in downtown
SLO)
San Celina Public Library - building is actually based on a mixture of Huntington Beach Central Library in Huntington Beach, Calif (Orange County)
and my own local library, Fountain Valley branch of the Orange County library system. I worked at the Huntington Beach library for five years which is why
I used that building. I placed it in San Celina out by Laguna Lake (which is
translated, by the way, as Lake Lake) even though the actual San Luis Obispo library is downtown near the courthouse.
Police department - Corner of Walnut and Santa Rosa streets in San Luis Obispo.
But the jail "tour" that Benni received from Gabe was
actually based on one I was given at my local Fountain Valley police department ten years
ago by a very nice field sergeant who was in charge that day.
